Pilates on the ball. The use of large and small balls extends the range of movement and strengthens muscles ... and is great fun! Pilates for the older adult. These will include techniques for improving joint mobility and strength, functional movement, balance and exercises for individual and specific osteoporosis related problems. Pilates for sports injuries and post surgery. Pilates with it's development of the strong core means that it can be particularly helpful for people recovering from back injuries. Many Pilates exercises strengthen the muscles of the back and abdomen giving relief from pain and the fear of further injury. The exercises are performed in different positions and help each individual connect with their own body to strengthen and stabilise parts of the body while stretching and flexing others. People recovering from orthopedic surgery can continue to improve and develop their quality of movement safely after physiotherapy. Pilates during pregnancy. Pilates can be undertaken during pregnancy. For individuals who are already familiar with at least the Beginners programme an adapted programme can followed during the 2nd and 3rd tremestres. These programmes and post-natal (after 6 week check-up) will be tailored to the individual. Pilates Back 4 Good. Body Control Pilates has worked in conjunction with the National Health Service to design a Nationally recognised 16 week course for people recovering from lower back injury. This course starts with individual or or small group sessions leading into regular courses. The Allegro Reformer. Joseph Pilates designed the Reformer to help his students develop greater strength and flexibillity. The Allegro is the modern version. The sliding, sprung carriage, pullies and cables enable the user to resist the machine, vary the exercises and stretch themselves further.
